About Our Church

Who We Are

Immanuel is a church where people can come to worship God, commune with Him, be strengthened by God to face the joys and sorrows of life, fellowship with other Christians, be strengthened in service to God by sharing in the lives of other people.

Immanuel is a community of faith where people have been right and wrong, succeeded and failed, looked good and looked foolish; a community of God's people who care about each other and other people; a community where people are accepted for who they are not what they can do.

Our Faith

The congregation joins with the United Church of Christ in acknowledging as its sole Head, Jesus Christ, Son of God and Savior of persons. It acknowledges as kindred in Christ all who share in this confession. It looks to the word of God in the Scriptures, and to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, to prosper its creative and redemptive work in the world. It claims as its own the fatih of historic Church expressed in the ancient creeds and reclaimed in the basic insights of the Protestant Reformers. It affirms the responsibility of the Church in each generation to make this faith its own. In accordance with the teaching of our Lord and the practice prevailing among evangelical Christians, it recognizes two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord's supper Holy Communion. The rites of confirmation, ordination, Christian marriage, and burial are recognized.

Our Vision

The first and primary purpose of Immanuel United Church of Christ is to be a community of God's people; to bear witness to God's love for each of us His creation; to profess Jesus Christ as God's Son and our Saviour; and to share God's love with others.

Our Mission

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfector of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the Throne of God."                                     Hebrews 12:1-2
